Chapter 12

Key Events/Ideas 
  • Scout is upset and confused as to why Jem is distancing himself from her because he is growing up 
  • Atticus goes away and Cal takes the children to church 
  • They meet opposition from Lula and other members of the black community who see them at the church but ultimately they are let in because they are children and therefore more innoccent of racism than adults and because the black community are grateful to Atticus for the work he is doing for Tom 
  • Tehre is a collection of money for Helen (Tom's wife) 
  • Scout finds out what Tom has been accused of by asking Cal
